5 Things...

5 things to do after the election, no matter what.

I Will Continue To Do These 5 Things After Tuesday...

Tuesday is coming.  Everyone acts as if the world will end that night.  It won’t.
I have no idea who will win what races.  Polls have us on a roller coaster.
I know one thing:  “I’m standing on the Rock.”

(Psalm 18:2 says) The Lord is my solid rock, my fortress, my rescuer. My God is my rock… I take refuge in him!

My politics. Jesus is King.
Think about this my fellow believers.

Jesus had zero control over the Roman Empire and somehow he changed the world. We keep trying to change the world the way the Roman Empire did, instead of the way Jesus did. So with that, I have decided on 5 things I will continue to do on Wednesday morning regardless of who wins the elections statewide & nationwide this year.

I have decided on 5 things I will continue to do on Wednesday morning regardless of who wins the elections statewide and nationwide on Tuesday.

1. I will trust God to move powerfully in our nation.

I believe America was founded on a covenant with God. I believe our Constitution and Bill of Rights was started in a biblical way.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the one who  trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water…

I’m for the precepts our founding Fathers put into the Constitution to be carried out, not discarded. Their spirituality and brilliance have crafted a mighty nation, a free nation. One that God can still move in.

2.  I will continue to pray for those in authority.

I have prayed for every President, Governor, and Mayor for the last 33 years of my life, since become a believer. I will never stop doing that.

I may not agree with one thing they are for, but the only time I can change that is when there is another election. They still are making decisions every day that will alter history and must have my prayers to choose wisely.

Others may criticize my nation but I will not. I will work to change it, but I still believe it is being greatly used by God to finance missions and spread the Gospel to the darkest corners of the globe.

God told me to do that in 1 Timothy 2:2. If they are in authority anywhere, I will pray earnestly and fervently for them every day they are in “the office.”

3. I will listen with an open mind and heart to all who disagree with me.

I cannot be hard-headed about my way, or change, progress, and innovation.  The world is changing.  Some things need to change.

Those who are seeking to highlight changes may be partially or completely right.  I will seek to listen, understand, and make tangible changes that help us move forward together in the future.

Look to BUILD BRIDGES!!!!

Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word  stirs up anger.”

Eph 5:2 …walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us,  a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

4. I will continue to share my faith with others.

Whoever is in office has very little to do with my mission, my salvation and faith walk.

With all the election news and commercials coming at us, our mission remains the same regardless of what’s new or in the news cycle – love God, lead like Jesus and make disciples.

Mark 16:15 still says to "Go into all the world and share the good news."

People need Christ. They are still on drugs. They are still battling depression. They are still hopeless financially. They are still broken.

They need peace and hope, and I know the One who came to this dark world to give us those things. I will continue to speak His name freely to any and all who are desperately searching for Him.

5. I will continue to support and lead our local church.

Since the crazy pandemic of 2020, churches and Christians have struggled to find their way. They have let certain disciplines go, and the fruit of their life is showing it.

I don’t know about what every church is doing, but I know what God has lead us to do. We have prayed, sought counsel, and agonized over decisions. And will keep pouring our life into the lives of those that God has brought our way.

Heb 10:25 “let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

People that are in personal community report a higher level of engagement, peace, more grounded and greater purpose in their life, and less likely to get distracted and sidetracked by current events.

Remember the purpose of church isn’t to consume, it’s to be part of a community to give back and make a difference.

That's it.

Those are the five things I will continue to do on Wednesday and every day I am alive.

Whoever you are, however you voted, I love you.
I love you whether you are an American or not.
I am a Christian before I am an American.

Nothing that happens on Tuesday can change that.
